One year on

Today, Tuesday 23rd May 2023, marks one year since restoration of the station began – and what a lot has been achieved in that time!

Our Project Manager, Paul Amsterdam, and his hard working band of merry men, are plugging away towards what we hope will be an opening date in July or August. As you’ll see from the photos below, their attention to detail is second to none; we will have a truly top-of-the-class asset when all is said and done.

In parallel, the Trust continues to work with Cheryl Clark (www.frommykitchen.co.uk) towards the establishment of the tea room operation. A ‘soft start’ is planned, with the tea room expected to be open initially between Wednesdays and Saturdays. More details to follow soon.

Meanwhile, enjoy the latest progress photos:

Above: The beautiful tiled floor of the WC is revealed. This has been done in the same style as the floor around the hearth in the original Ladies Waiting Room.

Above: Paul Amsterdam lays the electric underfloor heating……

….and inspects the recently-installed solar panels on the roof.

Above: A roller shutter will separate the kitchen area from the main seating area when the kitchen is not in use for tea room purposes, but when the kitchen is open the roller shutter will be retracted up and hidden behind attractive ‘dagger boarding’, installed since this photo was taken.
