Happy 1st Birthday to the Tea Room

On a busy Friday at the station Cheryl Clark, who runs the Tea Room, was joined by guests and some of the Trustees to celebrate the Tea Room’s first full year of operation.

Cheryl had baked a special anniversary cake and is pictured, along with those Trustees who could make it, as well as Postie Mike.

Having first become involved with the station project in March 2023 and working with the Trust to set up a workable kitchen in the limited space available, she was ready by that August to open the doors of the building to the community, for the first time in some sixty years.

Being a completely new venture, how things would turn out was an unknown, but from the successful opening first day, thanks to the friendly and attentive approach of Cheryl and her team, along of course with some splendid home-made cakes and pastries, the Tea Room has gone from strength to strength.

Visitors continue to make very positive comments not only about the food and service but also about the building which gives the Tea Room a unique quality and special period feel.

Hopefully, this landmark anniversary is the first of many more to come.
