After nearly 5 years of behind-the-scenes effort, endless negotiations with Network Rail, funding applications, and Covid delays, we have finally done it – work has started on the restoration.
On Sunday 22nd May 2022 a tiny bit of history was made as the first ‘Heras’ fencing was put up in the car park and a start was made on cutting back the vegetation, fencing and assorted detritus to give access to the south end of the building, with contractors arriving on site Wednesday to begin cleaning and re-pointing of the brickwork. This work should continue on the platform side, subject to permissions, from 6th June onwards.
